It is our distinct pleasure to extend a warm invitation to join us for the 18th biennial conference of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, from June 12 to 15.
 

Tbilisi, the vibrant capital of Georgia, provides a captivating setting for our upcoming traumatic stress conference. With a history spanning over 1500 years, Tbilisi has been a witness to the diverse influences of various civilizations, each contributing to the city's cultural mosaic.
 

From its origins as a strategic trading hub along the ancient Silk Road to its role as an intersection between Eastern and Western cultures, Georgia has weathered a history marked by conquests, occupations, and conflicts. Notably, enduring two centuries of Russian and subsequently Soviet occupation has left a lasting impact, with Russia continuing to occupy 20% of Georgian territories, leading to internal displacement affecting up to 10% of today’s population.
 

Despite these challenges, the spirit of the Georgian people has remained resilient, embodying qualities of creativity, perseverance, and endurance that serve as a source of inspiration to this day.
 

In a world grappling with armed conflicts engendering mass violence, significant casualties, forced migrations, increasing authoritarianism, and escalating global animosity, the ESTSS conference stands as a beacon of unity, knowledge exchange, and value- based collaboration.

Under the overarching theme "Exploring New Approaches for Healing and Recovery in Times of Global Uncertainty and Extreme Stress", our conference aims to address the evolving complexities of trauma response. By delving into both research and clinical applications, we aspire to uncover innovative strategies and best practices for promoting healing and resilience in individuals, families, and communities.
